Construction fencing was installed today in front of Dwyer. The approximate location of the solar panels is within the yellow boxes. Note the truck height in the photo, these Solar panels are approximately the height of a parking lot, so the height will be a few feet above the truck height. Note the fence behind the truck along the ramps. This picture was taken from the field at a height of 6 feet, remember the streets around the school are lower than this height by at least 10′ and upwards of 20′ on 14th St. The panels will obstruct a portion of the building from certain angles. More to come as we find out more. Click the image to expand.
The image below shows alternative locations in red which we find more suitable for these solar panels on the campus, the yellow boxes show where the solar panels will be installed in relation to the building on the field.

The HB City Council Meeting is at 6 pm tonight at City Hall Council Chambers at 200 Main Street. The next HBCSD Board Meeting is at 7 pm on January 18th, 2011 at the HBCSD office at 20451 Craimer Lane.
According to the Huntington Independent on 1-7-11, the school board will hold a special meeting at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday (that would be January 11) to re-vote on this issue. Some posts on this website have listed the meeting as being on January 11 and some have it listed as being on January 18. All say it is at 7 and encourage the community to attend. Does anybody know the real date and time? A public display from the community will hardly be effective if the re-vote has already occurred.

Thanks for your concern…. the next regular school board meeting was scheduled for 1/18, and the board decided last Friday to add the solar panel placements as a topic for a special session being held on Tuesday the 11th. The school board published the agenda for the special session, which starts at 5:30 PM, but the public session for the solar panel placements will be at 7 PM. We have confirmed with the district that 7 PM is the time to come to discuss the solar panel placements. Please come and put your two cents in!

why don’t they put them in the bus parking area above the buses…..This specific design is multi purpose. Generating clean energy, used in a parking area avoiding the use of valuable space, and serve as cover protection for the vehicles.
